In response, experts said the bridge could have been straight. But the people involved in the project have deliberately designed the bridge by bending it.<\/p>\n

The main reason for doing so is to reduce the risk of accidents.<\/p>\n

The matter was explained by the late eminent engineer Professor. Jamilur Reza Chowdhury.<\/p>\n

This expert was the head of the international expert panel on the Padma Bridge project.<\/p>\n

In an interview with the media, he said, “If we look at the bridge from the sky, it is clear that the bridge is double curved. That is, slightly curved twice to the right and left. This was not only done during the Padma Bridge. Long highways in the United States, China, or Japan have been built in this way. ‘<\/p>\n

Professor Dr. explained. Jamilur Reza Chowdhury said, it is basically done with the drivers in mind. If the bridge is straight, the drivers get on the bridge and suffer from boredom. Loss of focus from driving due to fatigue and inertia. Many people feel drowsy because of holding the steering wheel in the same way. This increases the risk of accidents.<\/p>\n

But if you bend a little, the drivers have to be careful about it. Through this their heads are 100% active. Major accidents can be avoided.<\/p>\n

Not just to keep the driver focused; The engineers also kept in mind that the headlights of the vehicles coming from the opposite direction should not fall directly on the eyes of the driver. If the bridge is curved, the light will not catch the eye. That will also reduce the fear of accidents.<\/p>\n

Experts have given several other reasons for making the Padma bridge crooked.<\/p>\n

Not just the Padma Bridge; It is reasonable to make any big bridge crooked.<\/p>\n

The reason for this, experts say, is that a bridge has to carry three kinds of weight – its own weight; Vehicle weight; The pressure or weight of a river or natural disaster.<\/p>\n

Vibrational pressure is created when a car climbs on a bridge. When curved, it spreads across the bridge, resulting in less pressure. If straight, it does not spread over the whole bridge. Extensive tremors and pressures occur in certain places. As a result, there is a risk of the bridge collapsing.<\/p>\n

When the bridge is made by bending it, the loads of vehicles are properly applied on each pillar.<\/p>\n

In addition, during the flow of the river, there is a lot of pressure on the pillars, but when it is bent, the pressure is less. The ground has equal pressure everywhere, so bending can hold all the pillar structures during an earthquake.<\/p>\n

Another big reason is that the pillars are able to hold the bridge structure even under high water pressure during floods.<\/p>\n

Due to these reasons, big bridges like Padma bridge have been constructed by bending. There is no such thing as beauty. Such intelligence is to keep the bridge lasting for a long time. There is no objection even if the cost increases.<\/p>\n
