The government has favored development in the south

A seminar titled 'Development of the Southern Region: Possibilities and 
Challenges' organized by the Khulna Regional Information
 Office was held at the
 Deputy Commissioner's Conference Room on Sunday afternoon.
 Khulna Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Helal Hossain was the chief guest
 at the seminar.
The chief guest in his speech said that the development activities 
of Khulna are going on in the same way in Corona. 
Once the Padma Bridge is completed, 
we have to prepare for the tide that will be generated in the development
 of the southern region. Two separate economic zones
 at Rupsha and Batiaghata in Khulna have already been 
approved by the Bangladesh
 Economic Zone Authority for development in the south.
If implemented, it will create employment for many people in the area. 

Work is underway to set up IT Park and Sheikh Kamal 
Incubation Center in Khulna
 to create skilled manpower in the technology sector. 
The Deputy Commissioner mentioned the huge potential of ecotourism 
centered on the Sundarbans, Rupsha-Bhairab river and coastal areas through 
integrated initiatives. He also emphasized the need for sustainable 
projects in coastal areas to deal with natural disasters 
caused by climate change.
During the open discussion at the seminar, the guests mentioned 
various possibilities and challenges of development in the southern part 
of the country and said that being a coastal area, the people of this region
 have to constantly fight against natural disasters. They called for 
the construction of sustainable embankments to improve the living 
standards of the coastal people. They asked to consider environmental
 adaptation in the development plan. At the same time, 
the journalists demanded to ensure free flow of information 
in the development news.
Khulna Press Club President SM Zahid Hossain and Khulna Journalists Union
 President Munshi Md Mahbub Alam Sohag were special guests 
at the seminar presided
 over by Khulna Regional Information Office Deputy Chief Information Officer
 Jinat Ara Ahmed. Md. Atiqur Rahman Mufti, Assistant Information Officer, 
Khulna Regional Information Office presented the essay and Md. Moinuddin,
 Information Officer conducted the program.
Journalists from local and national dailies and electronic media of Khulna
 participated in the seminar.
