A cat has been awarded an honorary ‘doctorate’ degree from a university.

The cat’s name is Max and he received his degree from a university in the US state of Vermont. AP news.

According to a report on Sunday, the cat named Max was awarded an honorary doctorate degree by Vermont State University’s Castleton campus not for his mouse-hunting or sleeping achievements, but in recognition of his friendly demeanor, the Associated Press reported.

Max has been a beloved member of the Castleton family for years, Vermont State University’s Castleton campus said in a Facebook post.

The cat’s owner, Ashley Dow, said the cat decided on its own to go to campus. From then on he started hanging out with the students, and the students started loving him.

The cat, named Max, has been a part of the campus for the past four years and students are happy whenever they see him along their path. Even the students happily took pictures with the cat.
