Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdullahian and all the officials aboard the crashed helicopter died. The country’s semi-official news agency Meher News reported this.

According to Al Jazeera, the governor of East Azerbaijan Province, Malek Rahmati was also in the crashed helicopter. Although the death of the president has not yet been confirmed by the country’s government officials. However, a top Iranian official, who did not want to be named, confirmed to Reuters the news of the death of the officials in the helicopter, including President Raisi.

Meanwhile, the doctors also said that no life was found at the accident site.

Earlier on Sunday, Ibrahim Raisi went to inaugurate a dam jointly built by the two countries in the border area of Azerbaijan. President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev was also there. From there, Ibrahim Raisi and other officials with him were returning to Tabriz, the capital of Iran’s East Azerbaijan province, with a fleet of three helicopters.

Iranian state TV said there was “no sign” of anyone alive after President Ibrahim Raisi’s helicopter crashed, Al Jazeera reported on Monday.

On the other hand, citing an Iranian official, Reuters also reported that the helicopter was “completely burnt” in the accident.

En route, the helicopter carrying the president crashed in a remote mountain near the Zolfa region of East Azerbaijan. But the other two helicopters reached their destination safely.
