Josna, a housemaid, stole 425gm gold ornaments. Then ….

Josna, a member of the gang, broke into the house of a banker in Bhatara of the capital pretending to be a housemaid. In three days, he fled with 425gramm gold ornaments and goods worth Tk 28 lakh. Police have arrested Josna and her boyfriend Jamal in connection with the case. According to their information, 233gm gold ornaments were seized from Chapainawabganj.
On Friday, Bhatara police said banker Nazmul Huda, a resident of Bashundhara residential area of Bhatara, had filed a case with the police station on May 21 alleging that 425gm gold ornaments, a diamond necklace and two rings and a total of Tk 26 lakh 15 thousand in cash were stolen from his house.
According to the statement of case, on May 15, Josna Khatun was hired as a housemaid at her house. Three days later, the housemaid left the house without saying anything. The next day Nazmul Huda’s wife saw that the gold ornaments of the house had been stolen.
According to the victim, both the husband and wife are employed. No one lives at home except his old mother. Josna took a job at her home through a source provided with domestic help. On this occasion Josna escaped by stealing things from the cupboard of the house.
According to the police, a team of Bhatara police station started work to recover the stolen goods after filing the case. With the help of information technology, Josna and her boyfriend Jamal were arrested from Khilkhet in the capital. Later, on the basis of the information provided by them, 20 gold ornaments were recovered from the abandoned toilet of a relative’s house at Bholahat in Chapainawabganj.
During the preliminary interrogation, Josna told the police that he was involved in theft under the guise of domestic worker. He has stolen like this before. After the theft, her boyfriend Jamal helped her escape. Arrested Jamal is a driver by profession. He used to drive different cars for rent.
Bhatara Police Station OC Sajedur Rahman said that another theft case has been registered against Josna in Rajshahi. “We see a lot of people are indifferent to housework,” he said. Some people keep the keys of the valuable assets of the house in the hands of the working people.
He urged all to be vigilant about these issues and said that they should be investigated before hiring domestic workers. Otherwise such incidents will continue to happen again and again.
