Salam Murshedi MP meeting with Spain delegation on bridge construction

On Monday (January 29) Khulna-4 Constituency Member of Parliament Abdus Salam Murshedi met with Mr. Abdus Salam Murshedi at Envoy Tower in Dhaka regarding the progress of bridge construction at Arua Ferry Ghat in Barakpur Union of Dighlia Upazila of Khulna District. Alejandro Vidaureta, Vice President of Business Development of Centennial S.A., Project Manager Rodrigo Fernandez and Sohail Khan, Country Representative of the company in Bangladesh.
In the meeting, the delegation of Spain presented to Mr. Abdus Salam Murshedi about the progress of the meeting with the Directorate of Roads and Public Ways, the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges and the Department of Economic Relations of the Government of Bangladesh, including the verification of the feasibility of building the bridge.
Alejandro Vidaureta, Business Development Vice President of Spain’s Cención S.A. Company, said that the Spanish government and Bangladesh have planned to build a beautiful bridge through the use of the latest technology. Our meetings with the Ministries and Departments concerned with the construction of the bridge have been successfully completed and the Spanish Government has expressed interest in financing the project. In this regard, a proposal has been sent from the Economic Relations Department of the Government of Bangladesh.
In this regard, Salam Murshedi MP said that improving the communication system is essential for the socio-economic development of any country. If the communication system is good, the development of a country or region starts. Rupsa, Terkhada and Dighliabsi have elected me as a Member of Parliament for the third time to continue the development of Khulna-4 Constituency. I am determined to improve the communication system of the area and improve the fortunes of the people. If this Atai Bridge is constructed, the distance from Dighlia to Dhaka will be reduced to a great extent and the quality of life of the area will be improved along with socio-economic development. I will contact the relevant ministry so that the work of the bridge starts soon.
It is to be noted that in the tenth session of the Jatiya Sangsad, Mr. Abdus Salam Murshedi MP presented a speech in the parliament emphasizing on the construction of a bridge on the Atai River at Arua Ferighat of Barakpur Union for the better communication system of his constituency Dighlia Upazila. In view of this demand, the matter came to the attention of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and as a result of her sincerity, a letter was sent from the concerned ministry to Spain’s Cencunion S.A. company requesting a pre-feasibility check of the bridge. In response to this request of the Bangladesh government, a delegation from Spain visited the bridge area on both sides of the Atai River on February 13, 2021 to verify the feasibility of the bridge and expressed a positive attitude. Later, the relevant authorities of Bangladesh expressed their interest in providing financial assistance by meeting with the relevant ministries and verifying the feasibility of building the bridge.
