In Comilla, a village doctor and his wife were strangled to death after entering a house at late night.
However, police have arrested Shiuli Begum, 25, daughter-in-law of the deceased for questioning.
Local Panchthubi Union Parishad chairman Iqbal Hossain Bahalul said a group of seven to eight miscreants entered the house at midnight and asked the couple for something. There was an argument between them about this.
At one point, the killers fled after beating and suffocating them. However, the relatives could not confirm who the miscreants were.
However, it is believed that the husband and wife were killed by suffocation by tying their hands and feet and tying a rope around their necks.
Meanwhile, a police PBI and CID delegation visited the spot to investigate the matter.
. However, a local source said that a robbery took place at the house of Syed Bilal Hossain, who was killed about two months ago. The looted goods were recovered from his daughter-in-law Shiuli Begum a few days later. Shiuli later admitted that she had arranged the robbery. After that, Shiuli came back to her father-in-law’s house with a bond that she would never do such thing again.
The local people believe she may have been involved in the killings.
Kotwali Model Police Station OC Anwarul Azim said the bodies of the couple were recovered from the spot. Their bodies were sent to Comilla Medical College Hospital (CUMEC) morgue for autopsy on Monday morning.
No injuries were found on the bodies of the victims.
Shiuli, the daughter-in-law of the deceased, is being questioned. Police are working to unravel the mystery behind the incident.
