Turkey’s official name is being changed to ‘Turkey’

The United Nations has decided to change the name of the Republic of Turkey to ‘Turkey’. The UN decided to change Turkey’s name in response to Ankara’s request.

UN spokesman Stephen Dujarric said on Wednesday that he had received a letter from Turkish Foreign Minister Mevl কাt Cavusoglu addressed to Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, urging him to use “Turkish” instead of “Turkish” in all matters.
The spokesperson said that the name change of the country has been effective since the letter was received. On Tuesday, Cavusoglu announced that the letter had been sent to the United Nations and other international organizations.
“We want to see the use of ‘Turkey’ by the United Nations and other international organizations,” Cavusoglu told the Anadolu Agency.
