Awami League President and Sheikh Hasina have formed the government for the fourth consecutive time in Bangladesh. The swearing-in ceremony of the new cabinet members will be held at Bangabhaban tomorrow Thursday at 7 pm.
Sheikh Hasina has formed a new cabinet with 25 full ministers and 11 state ministers. The size of the new cabinet including the Prime Minister stands at 37 people. 25 of them are full ministers. And 11 are getting the responsibility of state minister. All have already been called and invited for the oath.
What kind of facilities do the cabinet members of Bangladesh get? Do they enjoy any additional facilities apart from the government salary and allowances?
Let’s know what kind of facilities the ministers of Bangladesh get without salary and allowances.
Salary of the Prime Minister
According to the Prime Ministers (Remuneration and Privileges) (Amendment) Bill, 2016, the salary of the Prime Minister of Bangladesh is Tk 1 lakh 15 thousand per month. Apart from that, he gets monthly house rent of one lakh taka, daily allowance three thousand taka.
Salary of Minister
According to The Ministers, Ministers of State and Deputy Ministers (Remuneration and Privileges) (Amendment) Bill, 2016, a minister gets a monthly salary of Tk one lakh five thousand. The Deputy Speaker, Leader of the Opposition and Chief Whip also receive equal pay.
Other benefits a minister gets are:
Daily allowance: Two thousand rupees
Controller Allowance: 10 thousand taka per month
Voluntary Fund: Rs.10 lakhs
75 thousand to buy a mobile phone
Full time car at government expense. An additional jeep vehicle will be provided for official tours outside Dhaka, all expenses of which will be borne by the government.
Railway travel and foreign travel at government expense, rent-free government accommodation: All maintenance of the building including gas, electricity, water, telephone will be borne by the government.
Furniture: Furniture worth up to five lakh rupees in government residences
If not in government housing: 80 thousand rupees for house rent, along with house management expenses and all types of service sector bills.
Insurance benefit for air travel is 8 lakh taka
Full time security guard
Travel expenses from residence to office or from office to residence. He will also get travel expenses for himself and family members. Besides, travel expenses of at least two domestic workers will be paid.
One Private Secretary of the rank of Deputy Secretary, one Assistant Private Secretary of the rank of Assistant Secretary and one Assistant Private Secretary from outside the cadre. Two officers of grade 10 in the national pay scale.
You will also get one Jamadar and one Ardali, two MLSS, one cook or peon.
Salary of the Minister of State
Salary of state ministers is 92 thousand rupees per month. There is no tax on this income. He will also get:
Daily Allowance: One and a half thousand rupees
State Minister’s Controller Allowance: 7 thousand 500 Tk
Discretionary Fund: 7.5 Lakhs
75 thousand to buy a mobile phone
Rent-free government residence: All maintenance of the building including gas, electricity, water, telephone will be borne by the government
Furniture: Furniture worth up to four lakh rupees in government residences
If not in government housing: Tk 70,000 for house rent, along with all utility bills including gas, electricity, water, telephone and house management expenses
One Private Secretary of the rank of Deputy Secretary, one Assistant Private Secretary of the rank of Assistant Secretary and one Assistant Private Secretary from outside the cadre. Two officers of grade 10 in the national pay scale.
You will also get one Jamadar and one Ardali, two MLSS, one cook or peon.
Salary of Deputy Minister
A deputy minister gets a salary of 86 thousand 500 taka. He also does not have to pay any tax on the salary.
Daily Allowance: One and a half thousand rupees
Controller Allowance: Five thousand rupees
Voluntary Fund: 5.5 Lakhs
75 thousand to buy a mobile phone
Rent-free government residence: All maintenance of the building including gas, electricity, water, telephone will be borne by the government
Furniture: Furniture worth up to four lakh rupees in government residences
If not in government housing: Tk 70 thousand for house rent, along with house management expenses and all types of service sector bills.
One Private Secretary of the rank of Assistant Secretary, and another Assistant Private Secretary from outside the cadre.
Besides a personal assistant, a Jamadar and an Ardali, a MLSS, a cook or a peon.
Ministers, Ministers of State and Deputy Ministers in the Cabinet shall enjoy the above mentioned privileges.
